High Voltage Fitters – National Grid Authorised

Currently require experienced substation fitters who are competent in all switchgear installation works. Must have previous experience in;

  • AIS and GIS installation works
  • Above and below ground earthing – Bending and brazing
  • Experienced MEWP operator

Mandatory training requirement

  • National Grid Person
  • CSCS
  • MEWP

  • Slinger/Signaller

Site Manager – National Grid Authorised

Curretnyl require experinced site managers with proven track record for works Nationwide on National Grid projects.

Candidates must be familiar with National Grid technical processes and have experience coordinating site activities; from site set-up to site demobilisation.

Job Duties

  • Ensure all persons are adequately briefed on the work to be undertaken, the current site risks and are set to work appropriately. Ensure regular toolbox talks are undertaken as the project progresses.
  • To ensure works are undertaken in line with the current contract programme and if any changes are identified, ensure notification is given to the Project Manager.
  • The compilation of project-specific Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) including amendments as required, ensuring safe systems of work are appropriate and effective for the activities undertaken.
  • Ensure that Risk Assessments, Methods Statements and the details of any necessary permits are communicated to the site team carrying out the works.
  • Undertake weekly site coordination meetings with subcontractors, and contractors undertaking contemporaneous works.
  • Coordinate and liaise operationally with National Grid and other stakeholders, as appropriate.
  • In conjunction with the Health & Safety Advisor and the Project Manager, report all accidents, incidents and safety observations to the relevant parties, and if necessary, suspend works until the situation is rectified.
  • Working knowledge of contract conditions, CDM regulations, design management, programme & risk management and cost control including forecasting, actual cost and value reporting.
  • Maintain, monitor, update and implement the Site Waste Management Plan.
  • Good knowledge of specifications and testing regime relevant to substation work.

Substation Wiremen – SSE Authorised

Currently require experienced substation wiremen for works in the Scotland area.

Must be competent and capable of the following tasks;

  • Glanding and terminating SWA multicore cables
  • Working from core sheets an wiring diagrams
  • Installation of containment
  • Adhering to RAMS and safe working practices

Sites are SSE Substations, so candidates will be required to have minimum SSE CAT1 authorisation and basic Health & Safety training (CIS, ECS, CCNSG, etc)

Payment method is; Umbrella only
